We have many friends…….. who have small or large businesses themselves

And we want to make sure that you KNOW of them and their many talents, skills and friendly manners. Below are the people that we prefer to do business with and that we can warmly recommend in case you are looking for good quality and service. (Click on the images to find their web sites!)

Touring

Europe
Motorrad-Presse and Motorrad-Tourer

Two German language websites.
The first brings you news out of the motorcycling world, and the second is a MAJOR DATABASE with places for lodging, tours, sightseeing tips, events, rider’s meetings and much much more. Focused on Germany and the European Alpine areas, but expanding. Fred, the owner, and I have decided to support each other, since our sites and services are complementing each other.

Worth a visit … or two !

Motonomad
Motonomad-Dromomania

This is a small tour guide company from Romania, organizing tours and private guide through Romania, starting in Vienna. Tours are mostly asphalt, but also partly on dust roads, German or English spoken.

The big advantage of the eastern countries is that they are still relatively cheap compared to western Europe.

Training

Pé and Marieke Schipper

have a motor riding and car driving school. They are passionate riders themselves and would rather only give riding lessons. Unfortunately Dutch weather forces them to teach people to drive cars in the winter months instead. Rijschool Schipper provides special one-day or half-day training for EuropeRides, focusing specifically on handling the bike at slow speeds, teaching some of the specifics for European riding and taking any requests for ‘updating’ skills. They are based near the city of Hoorn in The Netherlands, close to EuropeRides current ‘HQ’ and on 40 minutes riding from Amsterdam Airport.

Lodging

Le Mont Gouje

is a Normandy farm of the 17th century, fully restored, with modern amenities (fully equipped kitchen, tv, sitting room, laundry room), a private swimming pool and leisure area. It is owned by our friends Carole and Philippe Bréant, who live in the equally old house next door, housing a separate Bed & Breakfast. St. Maclou is the village, situated in the rural Eure department, on the border with Normandy and only 20 miles from the sea. Le Mont Gouje is our primary ‘base’ for the EuropeRide Normandy Tours!

Gîte Deprez

The Gîte and attached Bed & Breakfast of Catherine and Philippe Deprez is another place for Normandy visitors to rest their wary heads and enjoy peace and quiet. The Deprez family are friends of the Bréants and warmly recommended. Their place is located at La Cambe, 6 km from Grandcamp Maisy, a little town on the French seaside at the westernmost tip of ‘Omaha Beach’ and near Pointe du Hoc. A great ‘base’ for Normandy recce trips !

Le Croix au Vanneur

Not quite in Normandy, but near enough to allow for trips along the beaches and boccages, is the Gîte of Mike and Molly Gates from the UK. The house is situated near a small village called La Brulatte, 15 minutes from Laval, 40 minutes from Rennes; Paris is 2 hours and an hour to Le Mans. Ferry ports are St Malo 74 miles and Cherbourg 130 miles. Mike is a rider too, and hence the Gîte is ‘biker friendly’!

Technical

Motor Service Amersfoort

Kenny Simon handles our technical support for our BMW RT but also for other brands and models.
Ken has opened a new shop in Den Dolder, in the province of Utrecht and will discuss any work on your motorbike with you. Just click on the picture to check out his website!|
Ken is from New York, speaks Dutch and English and is an enthusiastic BMW rider himself!

Tour Guides

Eelke Snabilié

born on the 14th of December in 1973 in Amsterdam. “….Grown up with motorbikes, because my older brother (20 years older than me) drove lots of motorbikes during my childhood and he was a driving instructor too. Lucky me, after my 18th birthday he gave me my first lesson. Quickly after I got my drivers license, I bought a BMW R80/7 (1978).The next summer I packed my bags and drove up north to Lapland (Finland). Back home I got a bike accident and broke my ankle badly. After rehabilitation I started biking again. The next years I made a few trips into the Alps by motorbike. In the same time I started my study physical geography at the University of Amsterdam. During my study less time left for bike holidays, but I stayed in the Alps and Ireland for a longer period doing my fieldwork over here. In 2002, I graduate in glacial and peri-glacial geomorphology. Nowadays I teach geography and science at high school in Amsterdam.During the holidays I drive with my partner lots of kilometers on our BMW R1100RT. The R80/7 is still in our possession. We are experienced in the Alps (Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland), the Black forest (Germany), the Eifel (Germany) and Westerwald (Germany)…..”.Eelke is available for guiding EuropeRides Tours in The Alps during the Summer Season.

Erick Barkhuis

Erick is a BMW rider from Holland who recently moved his residence to Germany, just across the border. He and his wife not only run an excellent bed & breakfast now, but Erick also offers motorbike tours in the area, and even further away if need be.Funny enough Erick and I lived only 20 miles apart, but we found each other through the American BMWST forum on the Internet a few years ago ! Small world! From their website:”…..We (Ursula and Erick Barkhuis – she is German, he is Dutch) are truly looking forward to meeting you, and we’ll work hard so you can enjoy your stay exactly the way you like it. Those who want to rest and relax can do so, while those who prefer to fill their days with activities can ask for tips, flyers and maps, playing materials, rental bikes or a picnic basket….”.
